Hey Element Church! We had a great time of prayer tonight at First Friday. I hope some of you Elementers who haven’t been a part of First Friday get involved one of these days. To me, it was one of the most important things we can do as a church. PRAY! We mix in a little worship with our prayer times. It is pretty much the same format each month.
We always open up our prayer time by praying for other churches here in town and for the city of Cheyenne itself. I hope every church that preaches about Jesus sees people who are lost become found. We pray for other pastors during this time as well. Not by name, but for the pastors and churches of our city to follow Jesus and see people come to know Him.
We typically turn our attention to a specific need in Element if there is one. Tonight we prayed for our new location and the waiting of the building permit.
We always pray for the upcoming sermon series and dedicate the month to the Lord. We spend a LOT of time searching God and putting thoughts together on the sermon series’ we do. I know this. WITHOUT THE BLESSING OF GOD NO SERMON SERIES WILL BE EFFECTIVE. And I am STOKED about Rock Band.
We end in different ways. Tonight we gathered around the General (Grant) and prayed over him. Tomorrow is his last day at Frito Lay and then he is officially on staff full time at Element Church. This is a MAJOR transition for him and I wanted to have our group pray over him and ask for God’s blessing.
That’s what First Friday typically looks like. The mixing of worship with prayer is great and I always feel God’s Spirit there with us. Thank you to those who are faithful to come and pray. I encourage you to come if you never have. I almost said “There is nothing special about it”, but I would be wrong. It is VERY special and a vital part of what we do. If nothing else, it helps me keep focused as to why we’re here.
Following Christ,
Jeff
