I’m convinced that if you receive the funds and then find the dream, you don’t really have a dream. When it comes to vision, dreams, GOD ORDAINED PASSIONS, we can’t start with funding and then find our dream. God GRANTS us the dream and we trust in Him to fund it. It would be easy to be given a million dollars and then find something REALLY great to do with it.
What is it that God is asking me to do that requires faith and trust to pull off? Maybe you don’t have that dream yet, but I believe that if we pursue God long enough, He’ll grant us those dreams.
In Genesis, Abraham’s dream…his vision…His God ordained passion, was to have a son. God promised him a son but then enhanced his dream by saying “The WHOLE WORLD” will be blessed through this son. It seemed impossible. He and his wife were LONG past childbearing years, but the dream came before the fund. They finally have Isaac, and God then says “Kill him.” HUH? Why would God do that? So what did Abraham do?
On the way up the hill to sacrifice Isaac, I think Isaac gets the hint as to what is going on and asks his dad “Where is the sheep for the burnt offering?” Abraham replies “God will provide the sheep.” Dude, THAT is the kind of faith I want to have when God plants a dream in my heart. Abraham even went all the way to raising the knife to slay the “fund” before God cut him off and said “Don’t kill your son”, and provided a ram in the thicket.
The fund of Abraham’s dream was Isaac, than God asks to kill him. But Abraham KNEW that if God gave him a dream “God would provide the sheep.” As another pastor says “If it’s God’s will, it’s God’s bill!” If GOD has asked you to do something, there will ALWAYS be a ram in the thicket. You just might have to raise your knife to see it, and that is the hard part. But you have to dream before you fund.
What is your dream? Where do you need to trust God to provide the sheep? What knife do you need to raise in order to find the ram in the thicket?
Dreaming before the fund,
Jeff
