…than seeing Scripture lived out. I’m experiencing that here today at Element.
Romans 12:6-8 says 6 “In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. 7 If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. 8 If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.”
I LOVE how God gives different gifts to different people, and I LOVE seeing people do them well. Today, our new Executive Pastor (Kody Bybee) started officially at Element. I just got out of a meeting with Kody where we chatted roles and responsibilities for over an hour. We had a GREAT conversation and both got very excited about the future of Element Church. When the conversation ended, I looked at Kody and said “You’re weird”. I know, not a great way to start off with a new employee.
Here is the thing. Kody LOVES to do, and is good at, EVERYTHING I hate to do. It’s not really weird, IT’S SCRIPTURE! He is gifted in administration, details, organization, etc. AND he loves to do it. He is truly doing his “certain thing well”. Guess what? SO CAN YOU! If you are a believer, YOU are gifted too. How are you using what God has given you? Are you doing your “certain thing well”? Are you living out Scripture?
Pumped up,
Jeff
Jeff — your comments today hit my study tonight — God works in mysterious ways – but I will be using your blog. The study tonight is about what are you doing with your talents (boat potatoes).
I was able to meet up with Kody yesterday – and he is going to be a welcomed addition to the staff of element — we just have to work on the clothes and his pick of a football team…
