I’m SUPER excited for several reasons.
#1 I’m preaching from a passage I’ve never preached from before on Sunday. We’ll be looking at a little known (at least little talked on) story out of the Old Testament. I know, I know, once again we are doing a Christmas series without using any Christmas passages. That’s how we roll. I’m STOKED about the message God gave me for Sunday. Doesn’t all of the Bible point to Christmas and the cross though?
#2 I’ve received some GREAT comments from people about how God challenged/touched them this past Sunday. I almost scrapped the message on Sunday morning. I felt that it wasn’t going to be relevant to anyone. BOY was I wrong. So many of you have said how timely it was. “It reached me in areas I didn’t know existed.” “It awakened areas I didn’t know where there.” Etc. Just shows God knows what He’s up to. So glad that God uses us, even when we don’t feel useful.
#3 I can’t wait for our next sermon series. Adam has been working on some graphics for it. We’ll be revealing it here in the next couple weeks. It will begin on the first Sunday of January. I’m personally getting heavily involved in the sermon series starting this Sunday with some pre-series stuff. (You’ll see later) I really feel that Christ, through our next series, can actually change the way we’re living. I’ve already been challenged by what we’re going to take on.
#4 The series we’ll be starting in February is also going to be killer. I can’t let the cat out of the bag too much, but it will be something that The General is gonna work into ALL of our Life Groups. Not only will we be doing a sermon series as a church, but Life Groups will be doing stuff going right along with it. As a pastoral staff, we were VERY challenged recently by what we’ll be going through in February.
#5 We started a…how do I say this…Calendar challenged (several of them widows) Life Group recently. A couple of our AWESOME ladies in church started this group. They had SEVEN on their first week. SEVEN!! Holy cow! ROCK IT LADIES (that means “way to go”)! I LOVE the fact that we are reaching people in all age brackets. I am convinced that when a church has LIFE they can reach anyone. Do they wear earplugs sometimes? YES! Do they always agree with our methods? NO! Are they pursuing Jesus and connecting to His Word? ABSOLUTELY! Love it!
Excited,
Jeff
