New Location Update

5 11 2008

Paint is rapidly going up.  We had a good work crew last night and got lots of stuff cleaned up and prepped.  We started putting up our sound panels in the worship center which will help with echo and sound control.  I think they look sweet.  The welcome center is now painted and lights are going up.  Hallways are being painted and kids rooms as well.  The owners are redoing our front sidewalk and parking lot.  The sidewalk and new island will be done this week.  Parking lot is next.  That is HUGE for us!  Tomorrow one of the city inspectors is coming out to see how we are tracking.  PLEASE PRAY FOR FAVOR!  This is not a final inspection, we just want to know where we are standing as far as a timeline.  We’ll be working Thursday and Friday night and Saturday 9 starting at 9 AM.  We’ll have lots of cleaning.  We need good shopvacs.  Need to fix a lot of our celing tile track (what holds tiles).  Need to get the floors cleaned up as best we can so flooring can go down.  If you’re coming out bring brooms, trash cans, and shopvacs.  We’ll have some touch up painting on the ceiling track as well.  Here are the latest pictures.

Five Things I’m Certain Of

5 11 2008

The election is over.  Our next President has been set.  I prayed for him this morning as I would have for whoever was elected.  I prayed for President elect Barack Obama this morning that he would be protected (I think more than any president in my lifetime he will be threatened).  I prayed for wisdom for him.  I prayed that regardless of where he is at today, what policy he has voted for in the past or says he’ll put in place, that he would know and do the will of God.  We are blessed to live in the United States of America and have the freedom and opportunity to vote for a candidate.  Regardless of where you stand politically, here are five things you can be sure of today.

#1  God is not surprised — Romans 13:1 says that ALL governing authorities have been placed there by God.

#2  The president is not in control — GOD is!  Regardless of who is president, they hold no authority or power outside of God.  GOD is in control.  God used pagan kings and wicked governing authorities all through Scripture to accomplish his purpose.  Whether Bush, McCain, Obama, Hillary (funny we call her by her first name), Huckabee, WHOEVER, God is on the throne and his plan WILL be accomplished.  God is not limited by who runs the USA.

#3  People still need Jesus — The president doesn’t change our objective.  People are dying every day and going to hell because they don’t know Jesus.  Our mission is to connect people with the Life in Christ.  Why?  Cause life can’t be found anywhere else.  ESPECIALLY in a political party.

#4  We still need Jesus — Just because you’re a Christian doesn’t mean you don’t need Jesus anymore.  PLEASE don’t look to Obama, McCain, Democrats or Republicans for your answer.  WE STILL NEED JESUS!  The hope is not Obama.  The chane we need is not in Hillary.  Our protection does not come from McCain and our bailout is not in the congress.  Our hope, our change, our protection our bailout is JESUS AND HIM ALONE!

#5  The church is still the church — AND WE WIN! (Please, no comments about how Jesus wins, not the church.  You know what I mean)  We don’t need the right political party to be in office for us to be the church.  To help those who are in need.  To love the unlovable.  To reach the unreachable.  To make an impact in our cities.  If the church does her job, people will take notice.

PAINT IS GOING UP!  The worship center paint is DONE!  Welcome center and some hallways going up tonight.  We will be working Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday this week on little things.  Clean up things.  Etc.  You can see some of the changes going on in the pictures.  Put some sweet touches on the sound booth and stage with currogated metal.  The itty bitty nursery is stinkin’ awesome!  Fire inspector was in today and we seem to be on track.  Everything is looking good.  Hope to make some very exciting announcements this Sunday!

Sunday Rumination (11-2-08)

2 11 2008

Crazy to think that it could be just a few more weeks in the theater before we move to our new location.  Here are my thoughts on the day.

— First off, there are some GREAT new stories on Element Gives Back that you need to go read HERE.  So cool to see what people come up with on their money.  Good job guys.

— 545 today.  Umm… we’re packed.  :)

— We had more in first service than in second maybe for the first time ever.  First service live venue filled up and there were 15 – 20 in the video venue.  Crazy!  I  don’t even know what to tell you.  Get there early now for both services or you won’t have a seat in the live venue.

— Thank you to the volunteers who chose to sit in the video venue.  I appreciate that!

— WOW communion was moving today.  What an amazing time of worship we had.  One of those moments where the Spirit of God was just heavy in the room.  At least for me.

— The song we sang for communion “At The Cross” by Hillsong was so perfect.

— We sang the newest Adam Cruz original today.  I think it may be his best yet.  It’s called “The One Who Loves Me”.  Oh man, it is good.  Seemed to really connect too.  Can’t wait to sing it again next week.

— I hope you all realize how talented of a worship leader you have.  Adam has grown so much over the past year it is cool to be a part of it.

— Shared on our core value of Family today.  God has kind of taken me a direction with these core value sermons that I was totally not anticipating.  I like it!

— If you aren’t in a Life Group you need to do your best to get in one.  Email Grant for more info.

— Going on a date tonight with my wife and 2 other couples.  We’re going out to eat and to see Fireproof.  I hear it’s really good.

Fireproof is playing at the Capitol 12 here in town.  If you can go see it I encourage you to do that.  Would be great to get some good support for this church made, Christian film.

Flywheel and Facing the Giants are two other films that were made by the makers of Fireproof.  Both of them are must sees.  Incredible for a church to pull those off.

— Texas lost and OU won.  And I didn’t need to wear a Texas Tech shirt to church to rub it in. lol

— Noticed much less Texas garb(age) today at church than I did a few weeks ago.

— Working on the new location this week.  Tuesday, Thursday, Friday nights at 6 PM and Saturday from 9 – 4 PM.  We are going to have LOTS of clean up to start doing.  I’ll try to keep you updated on what needs to be done.  We’re getting down to the nitty gritty.

That’s about it.  Gonna get a quick nap in and get ready to go out.

Following Christ,

Jeff

Tuesday was jersey day at Jonah and Mariahs school.  They had themes each day.  Must have been for Halloween.  I was VERY proud to see they both wanted to wear something OU.  Jonah said “It’s not a jersey but it’s OU.”  YES!
