NO CHURCH THIS WEEK!

29 08 2008

Don’t forget there is NO CHURCH this Sunday at Element Church.  To give ALL of our very hardworking volunteers a complete Sunday off we are taking Labor Day weekend off.  PLEASE don’t use this as an excuse to not go to church anywhere.  I encourage you to attend church with a friend or family member to support them and their ministry.  Attend a church maybe that you normally wouldn’t attend.  Or go check out a church you’ve heard good things about but haven’t got to go to.  We’re firing up a new series that I am COMPLETELY stoked about next week called LOST.  Then we hit our one year anniversary Sunday and trust me, you WON’T want to miss that Sunday!  Alright, have a great Labor Day weekend.  We’ll see you all on the other side.

Missin’ Church,

Jeff

New Location Updates

28 08 2008

Here are some new pictures of some little things that have been done.  We got some more major stuff tore out.  The electricians are out here working right now pulling out a bunch of hanging electrical wires and such.  Our plumbers have been working hard and will be out again on Saturday working on adding our toilets.  We are working tonight from 6-9 PM and could use anyone’s help.  We need to get A LOT of framing done yet before we can get electric done and start sheetrocking.  Got A LOT of dirt and concrete to move.  Come help tonight, tomorrow night from 6-9 PM and Saturday from 10 - 4 PM.

Ready to work,

Jeff

Gas Buydown: IN THE NEWS!

28 08 2008

CBS News Station 5 did a quick interview with me on camera yesterday at the Big D on E. Lincolnway.  They aired a short story on this Saturday’s event, last night on the news.  Below is the clip.  Use it to invite people out to the buydown.  You can click on the video and email it out from YouTube.  If you signed up to volunteer make sure and come wearing your RED Element Shirts.  10 AM - 2 PM.  Fifty cents off every gallon.  Can’t wait to serve on Saturday.  This event is a BLAST every time!  So much fun!  See ya there.

Ready to serve,

Jeff

Work Patrol

27 08 2008

Sometimes in any office you just need a good laugh.  Recently, when Adam or I want to break up the day we’ll take a ride on the bike for a little work patrol.  Make sure each person is working hard at their station.  Today, Adam did a little work patrol.

Link Love: Element Church

27 08 2008

Hey Elementers!  Curtis has a new blog up HERE.  It is very good.  Check it out.  ALSO, don’t forget that Fusion and College are multiplying into new groups starting Tuesday, Sept. 2nd.  JV Fusion will meet on Wednesdays in the youth room at 6:30 PM.  Varsity Fusion meets at 6:30 in the youth room on Tuesdays.  Both those groups will be led by Pastor Andy.  Curtis is now our college pastor and will be leading the college/twenties on Firday nights in the youth room at 7 PM.  They are starting their ministry on Friday Sept. 5th.

Excited for the change

Jeff

LOST: New Sermon Series

26 08 2008

Hey Element Church!  Dont’ forget NO CHURCH THIS WEEK!  Go support another church here in town and volunteers, enjoy a week off.  Here is the promo video for our new sermon series.  You can email it from YouTube as an invite to any friends you may want to invite to Element next month.  Click on the video to go to YouTube.  In LOST we’re going to tackle issues of where we fit into God’s Kingdom.  How to determine God’s will for our lives.  And two weeks on coorporate and personal evangelism.  We are planning out some creative elements and set design for this series and are SUPER STOKED about it.  Can’t wait to kick off our Fall ministry at Element.

Wild Goose Giveaway

25 08 2008

I blogged a book review that I was able to be a part of for Mark Batterson recently. You can read it HERE. As a part of doing the review, I get to give away a FREE copy of The Wild Goose Chase. So, I’m not sure who is going to get this, and I know this is a TOTALLY boring way to do it. But the first person to email me with their name and address will get a FREE copy of the book sent directly to them. That means Grant will probably win because he wakes up before God each day and will probably check my blog. LOL (Please no comments on how God doesn’t sleep. I know that. It is a joke!)  Click on the email link to the right to send in.

Givin’ away,

Jeff

Fusion Vision

25 08 2008

Hey Element Church!  Check out Andy’s blog HERE for some updates on what is happening in Fusion.  I want to share some pretty cool stuff on this blog about what is going on in our youth and college ministries.

First off, Elementers you are SO BLESSED to have Andy and Curtis serving your students.  Holy cow those guys impress me.  BOTH of them are pastors on staff and part of the Lead Team as TOTAL volunteers.  Andy currently works at the Wal-Mart distribution center and Curtis is a helicopter pilot for the USAF.  (Who has the cooler job?  Actually Andy does, he works in the freezer area at the DC)  Each week these guys are giving of their free time and days off to attend staff  meetings, prepare lessons, retreats, camping trips, games.  They are pastors who don’t get paid.  And I’ve yet to hear ANYTHING but positive spoken from their mouths.  Let me tell you, when it comes to finding guys for the team, it’s hearts like theirs I’m looking for.

Second, at our staff advance to Estes Park we made some SERIOUS staff shifts and ministry shifts that I think are going to be an AWESOME move for us.  Starting Tuesday, September 2nd Varsity Fusion is going to be ministering to our 9th - 12th grade students.  Wednesday’s will be JV Fusion for 6th - 8th graders and we are starting, for the first time, a complete college/twenty something ministry on Friday’s led by Curtis.  That means Andy is stepping up to be our youth pastor of both groups.  Curtis is now the college pastor.  WHAT?  Yeah, we said a few times at our planning time “Did we just do that?”

Why?  We have missed connecting college/twenty somethings since the beginning.  Now, instead of high school students and college students in one ministry, they will have their own.  That is a huge move for us.  All the groups will utilize the youth room at the new building which is also a huge plus.  I am SO excited and 150% behind this move.  Curtis and Andy have been dreaming and visioning this out since Andy’s move here.  One of our 6 month goals we laid out at our advance was to hire Andy full time.  Barring a move of God we’ll not be able to hire Curtis so we’ll see where God takes that.  I believe eventually the ministry will be such, that someone will need to be hired to lead that group.

Needless to say we are STOKED for the new school year and this new move.  Tuesday 6:30 - 8 PM will be Varsity Fusion.  Wednesday 6:30 - 8 PM JV Fusion.  Friday 7 PM - ? College (working on a name right now).

Please pray for us in this ministry shift.  To alleviate some pressure from Andy on Tuesdays we are all going to share speaking duties.  We’ll be on a rotation with Andy, Curtis, Adam, Grant, myself and some other volunteers.  I’m excited about that.  Be thankful for the men you have leading your students.  God is doing amazing things through them.

Excited,

Jeff

Sunday Rumination (8-24-08)

24 08 2008

Hey Element Church!  What a day today.  Here are my ruminations on the happenings at Element today!

— Where there is people… (if you were there you can fill in the blank)

— 8 people acknowledged that they ask Jesus into their heart today.  (Not counting my two daughters who wouldn’t stop waving at me when I asked for people to raise their hand LOL)  PRAISE THE LORD!

— 486 in church today.  WHAT?  Yeah.  When I came into 2nd service one of our ushers who seats people told me that there were a few single seats left.  EVERY seat in the front row was full.  That might be a first.

— If you can come to the 9 AM service and are a regular Elementer PLEASE DO!  We need to open up space in the 10:30 again.  I’m ready to see what happens this Fall.

— We closed out Rock Band today talking about conflict (relationships and forgiveness).  I know several people said they needed to hear it.

— The band did “The Heart of The Matter” by the Eagles.  Set up the message today.

— We had some KEY volunteers gone today and I was a little anxious about whether we’d get everything done.  I came early to help fill in any holes I could.  I didn’t need to be anxious cause the volunteers that filled in with me totally ROCKED IT OUT today!

— Pam, you did great on the lights!  Thank you!  Pat, you filled a huge hole on sound.  Thank you!  Jason, without you knowing cables we would have been done for.  Matt, thanks for coming early for e:kidz!  Anyone else, YOU GUYS ROCK!

— Our tear down team is KILLING it!  We had two noon movies, one 12:15 in e:worship and a 12:30.  We were out of e:worship before 12:15.  Had a few popcorn eating onlookers but some of the guys who started tearing down a few weeks ago really got their place now and tear down is smokin’.

— Gas buydown this week!  Volunteers we’ll call you.  Make sure and wear your red Element shirt if you are volunteering.

— NO CHURCH THIS WEEK!  Make sure and pass the word.

— Volunteers, you guys are AMAZING!  Enjoy your well deserved week completely off.  Please attend church somewhere else and support other Christians here in town.

— I am so proud of my kids.  They come to “big church” now for one service and they do such a good job.  Jonah, Mariah and Makalah all came to 2nd service today.  Jonah has been coming to help set up (he doesn’t help a whole lot but it makes me proud to have him)

— We’re working at the building again this week.  LOTS of framing to do and we could use your help.  Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 6-9 PM.  Saturday from 9 - 4 PM.  If anyone wants to work in the day or on another night, let us know and we’ll open up!

— Our next sermon series is LOST.  I’m excited for that series.  Where do I fit in?  How can I know God’s will?  How can we help people get to where they need to go?  How can I help people to get where they need to go?

— We’ll be tackling some evangelism stuff for the first time.  After that series we will be ONE YEAR OLD!  CRAZY.

— And we’re celebrating our anniversary in a BIG WAY!

— I think that’s it.  Heading to fantasy football draft party with some guys!

— COLLEGE FOOTBALL STARTS THIS WEEK!  I love this time of year.

Following Christ,

Jeff

Tuesday - Thursday - & Friday nights we’re working 6-9 PM. Saturday’s from 9 am - 4 PM. If you can help come on out. Click on the slideshow to view the photos in an online gallery.
