Dumpster Arrives

3 06 2008

Hey Element! We got the dumpster delivered today to the new location (600 Carlson). Here are a couple of pics. We are starting demolition tomorrow night at 7PM. We’ll be getting out as many of the walls as possible. Also, there is a TON of cable that was left behind by the previous tenant that we’ll need to get out. If you aren’t up for demo but can help pulling cables out of the ceiling then please come. Here are some of the supplies you might want to bring with you.

- Ladders - gloves - hammers - cordless drills (Phillips bits) - eye protection - we’ll provide hard hats and water.

Please leave your children 12 and under at home.  We do have someone in the church who owns a daycare that will provide free childcare to those who need it.  It will be first come first serve.  You can call Jessica at 514-1492 for that.  I think that’s it.  Can’t wait to get started.

New Sermon Series: One Prayer

3 06 2008

Hey Element Church! I am SUPER excited to announce our new sermon series coming in July, and something I’ve not only never done before, but never even SEEN before. Life Church out of Oklahoma City, and specifically Pastor Craig Groeschel, had a dream to unite churches around the globe into one sermon series.

The idea: “What would happen if believers from all over the globe came together to impact the world like never before? LifeChurch.tv is partnering with hundreds of other churches to unite together for a series called ‘One Prayer.’ By living beyond ourselves, we can change our communities and our world. Join us for this innovative series and see what God will do when we all stand together!”

The result? We are a part of over 1000 churches now worldwide who are partnering together for this sermon series. Below is a video from Pastor Craig explaining the series. Here is a link to the One Prayer web-site.

The series actually starts world wide this week. We will be doing ours in July. I’m SO excited for this rare opportunity to learn from other GREAT communicators. Here we are, from ALL walks of life and ALL kinds of denominations, yet we’ll join together for ONE PRAYER. Each senior pastor has been asked to teach on “their one prayer for the church”, then we’ll hear from two other pastors through video teaching what their “one prayer” is for the church. You won’t want to miss this innovative new way to connect to other churches around the world. We are VERY excited about being a part of this great event.

Praying,
Jeff

WiBo Speaker #5 and #6

3 06 2008

Hey Element Church! WiBo Speaker #5 was Mark Dever from Capitol Hill Baptist Church. Mark BY FAR stuck out like a sore thumb (in a good way). Most of the speakers were younger, “church plant”, progressive guys. Mark and CHBC are more MUCH more traditional. Dude, knocked it out of the park though! MAN his session was good. He spoke on the value of the local church. How much he believes in it. Here are my thoughts from his session.

“The church will win. The Kingdom of God is victorious.” LOVED the way he started out his session. Speaking of the victory the Bible declares for the Kingdom of God.

“Be faithful…that is success.” WOW! So many conferences make you view success as something totally different. 1000 people…5000 people…new building… NO! Faithfulness is success!

I wrote down “Ephesians 3“. Not sure what he said about it but it must have been good. lol

“God has put Himself on display in the local church.” If we REALLY believe that, what kind of “display” are we giving of Him? GREAT question.

Speaking of not being afraid to be different from the world “God set up the church to make it intentionally different from the world.” While he said that using relevant methods are great, there ARE issues that we MUST stand out as being different.

This next quote ROCKED my world. “You can say whatever you want from the pulpit when you preach, your church will show what you mean!” HOLY COW! That dog’ll hunt right there.

Another great quote “He’s God…not our methods.”

“Pray for other churches.” YES! I’ve been challenged to do that in my own life and with our staff.

Hebrews 13:17 Challenged us that we will give an account for those who we are in authority over.

WiBo speaker #6 was John Burke from Gateway Church. I didn’t connect with his session the most. Not sure why. Just never connected. Love what Gateway is doing though. Cool story as a church too. Only two quotes I took from John, both very good though.

“How many years I labored selling a spiritual product I myself wasn’t drinking.” FOLKS, we gotta be smokin’ what we’re sellin’. (And you know what I mean so please no comments)

Speaking of the simplicity of following Christ. “Stay connected…fruit happens!” John 15:1-17

Still Learning,

Jeff

God is good! (New location update)

3 06 2008

Hey Element Church!  How pleasing it is to tell ALL of you that I just talked with our contractor and the demo permit is OURS.  ALSO, the full building plans have been submitted and accepted along with the site plan and the building permit is now IN THE LOOP.  We expect to have it very soon.  SO, this means that we WILL be in there this week/weekend to begin demo.  Terri will send out a mass email with details and I’ll post details on my blog as well.  All I can say is PRAISE THE LORD!  Continue praying for an expedited building permit process.  We want to move asap on building whenever we are ready.  Remember “Don’t worry about anything, instead pray about everything.  Tell God what you need, thank Him for what He has done and THEN you will experience the peace that passes understanding”.

Excited,

Jeff
